Guide For Resolving WiFi Connectivity Issue with R500 CharJi Cloud Device.

If you have been facing issues with WiFi connectivity on the R500 CharJi Cloud pictured below, this
document will help guide you on how to go about resolving it.

Please note: This guide addresses issues with WiFi Broadcast. The WiFi logo disappears from the top
left of the LCD screen and users are unable to locate the WiFi Hotspot when trying to connect from their
laptops/cellphones or other WiFi enabled devices. For any other issues you may be facing with the
device, please dial 0800 8 0800 or visit your nearest PTCL Smart Shop for assistance.

Requirements for the Fix:
1) Micro USB Cable (this is provided with the device. You may also use any other Micro USB cable
available).
2) The software tool (provided with this troubleshooting guide – “R500_Fix.exe”).
3) Approximately 2-3 minutes of your valuable time.

What you need to ensure before starting:
1) Please slide open the battery cover of the R500 device by sliding it in the direction of the arrow
etched on the side of the cover.
2) Please remove the battery from the device.
3) Please remove your SIM from the jacket, plug-in the battery and place the cover back on.
4) Please make sure you have extracted the “R500_Fix.exe” file to windows desktop or any other
location where you please.
Ready to Start:
1) Power on the R500 CharJi Cloud by keeping the power button pressed for a few seconds.
2) Once the device powers on and moves past the PTCL Logo to the main screen showing 4G or 3G
signals in the top left corner (depending on the users location) please connect it via the provided Micro
USB cable to your PC/Laptop. If this is the very first time you have ever connected the device to this
pc/laptop you will see a tiny window in the bottom right of your screen that will indicate “Installing
device driver software”. Please wait till this completes.
3)  Navigate to where you have extracted the “R500_Fix.exe” file and double click it.
4)  A black terminal window will present itself (sample text):

5) Press the ‘Enter’ key on your keyboard. Please do NOT unplug the device until this process completes.
Once the firmware is successfully updated, the terminal will ask you at the very bottom of the screen to
either “Press enter to download next one or ‘Q’ to quit”.  Please press the “Q” key on the keyboard,
followed by “Enter” on the keyboard and the window will exit.

6) The device firmware is updated, please disconnect the Micro USB cable from the device and reboot
the device through the power button. Please remove the back cover and battery and insert your CharJi
SIM. Plug-in the battery and slide cover back on.
7) Power on the device. The WiFi logo should be available on the top left and you should be able to
connect without any issues. In case you have forgotten your WiFi Key, please keep the top right button
on the device marked “WPS” pressed for 5 seconds and let go. The WiFi key will be visible on the screen.
